Wheat Bhakri

In Goa, we make different types of bhakris or pancakes for breakfast. Wheat bhakri or wheat flour pancakes makes an easy and healthy breakfast. I first had this at my mom's place. I really loved this bhakri that mom made. I thought that this recipe is very difficult to prepare, but it was damn easy.

Sometimes kids get bored to eat the same boring breakfast like cornflakes. Breads are not always healthy. Try this wheat bhakri or onion bhakri for breakfast. I am sure you and your family will have a great time. My hubby and my little one loved this bhakri and it has also joined the weekly breakfast menu.

The special taste of grated coconut and jaggery makes this bhakri a truly delicious one. If you don't like the sweet taste than you can add one or two green chilies to the batter. I did not add as my daughter does not like green chilies. You can also try dill leaves dosa or palak idlis. These breakfasts are healthy and kids love them too.
Ingredients:                                    Prep. time: 20 Min's/bhakri, Serves: 4
1 cup wheat flour
1 cup water
4 tablespoon freshly grated coconut
1/2 cup grated jaggery
1 green chili (optional)
1/4 tsp salt
oil / homemade ghee for frying

Procedure:
Mix the wheat flour and water to make a thick batter like dosa or pancake batter.
Add the other ingredients and mix well ensuring that there are no lumps of flour in the batter.
Fry the tawa / griddle, smear 1 or 2 tsp ghee/clarified butter on the tawa.
Pour a laddle full of batter on the tawa.
Spread it across with your finger tips carefully.

Fry well on both sides.
