Sabudana Khichdi is what I made for breakfast yesterday after a real long time. I had prepared this once 2-3 yrs back and since then I prepared it yesterday. My hubby loves different types of dishes for breakfast. I thought this would also surprise him and yes it indeed did.
It was great and it turned out to be a perfect breakfast on the Navratri morning.
Ingredients:
1 cup Sabudana
1 tsp Jeera/Cumin Seeds
10 curry leaves
1 green chilly
1 tablespoon grated coconut
1 potato
1/4 cup groundnuts
Oil / Ghee for frying
Salt to taste
Procedure:
Wash the sabudana and keep it aside for 5-6 hrs.
Do not soak them in water.
Fry the groundnuts in a kadai till they turn blackish.
Now of the 1/4 cup groundnuts, remove the skin and grind a few into a coarse/rough powder.
Remove the skin of the remaining groundnuts and break them into 2 pieces.
In a kadia, add 1 tsp oil. To this add the cumin seeds and curry leaves.
Add the finely chopped green chilly and fry.
Chop the potatoes into small pieces and add them to the kadai and fry till they are cooked.
Add the groundnuts and the groundnut powder.
Now to this add the sabudana and fry for sometime.
Garnish with grated coconut.
Add salt to taste.

ReplyDeleteLove this one, but never prepared at home as I am literally scared of handling sabudana in here as it has to be of the perfect texture, or else, it will be pasted or too hard. I will give it a try now as have been seeing a lot of these recipes, so got some tricks :)
