Today after a long time I made "Bataat Fov". In Goa Poha is known as Fov. In South India, it is known as Avalakki. Different places have different names for beaten rice.
The usual occasion when Fov is prepared is on the eve of Diwali. It is believed that Lord Krishna went to fight with daemon Narkasura. When he returned victorious, he was offered Batat Fov. So every year on the eve of Diwali we Goan GSB's prepare different types and different varieties of beaten rice.
Apart from that ,this fov is become a very healthy breakfast and snack option. I used to feel that eating beaten rice is equivalent to eating rice. But I was wrong. Eating beaten rice is equivalent to eating oats. Yes believe me. I normally don't like beaten rice, but today I also liked the poha I prepared :)
For breakfast today I prepared poha. Hubby Dear loved it a lot and complimented me by saying "This is the first time that you prepared awesome fov".
Yes when a dish is cooked with love and patience it turns great. Yes I slightly changed the way it's cooked this time. I added a little more oil this time. Everytime hubby used to tell me to add less oil. This time I added a little more and it turned great. The quantity of oil used should not be very less. Now my hubby told me to note down what all I did, so I immediately put on my system and started noting down the points. I am so happy that this is the first time that Poha did not land in my dustbin.
