MasterChef Australia Season 4 Review

This is the first time that Star World has brought the new season of Master Chef Australia to India in a short span of time. India will be the first country to officially air the new season outside Australia! The show has been live on Star World since 14th June between 9.00 PM to 10.00 PM.

Since the time I started watching Junior MasterChef Australia, I got addicted to this show. I try not to miss a single episode.  The  MasterChef Australia season 4 is hosted by Gary Mehigan, George Calombaris and Matt Preston. The judges are very lively yet strict and the 24 participants are very enthusiastic.

Every week the participants get a mystery box to cook a dish from using the secret ingredient. The winner of the mystery test picks an ingredient which goes to the invention test. The winner of the invention test competes with the celebrity chef to get a chance at immunity. The participants are divided into two or three groups to participate in the team challenge. The losers go to one of the two eliminations.

The episode which I loved the most was where the participants were asked to cook "Peach Melba". A very complicated yet very very delicious Australian recipe. The participants were given the recipe which spanned pages and they had to follow it and cook it right from scratch.

I really love the way the participants run around to get the ingredients when their time starts. They cook the dish with interest. They usually get a surprise ingredient with which they have to cook the dish. They cook the dish with real interest. Not just cooking, they judge the creativity, cooking style, serving style and the cleanliness involved. There are several challenges like mystery box challenge, an invention test, a team challenge, two elimination challenges and a celebrity chef cook-off.

I liked the set where they organize the show. It's neat and well maintained. Every participant has his/her own bench / cooking station. At the end of every show one participant is asked to return back home. In one of the episodes, the participants were asked to cook bread. Everyone gave in their best. One participant prepared one lovely Italian sandwich, but since it was not bread she was in the final 3.
But another participants bread did not rise and she did not perform her pressure test well and she had to return back home. All is well in a game. Finally there will be a single winner.

The way the judges judge the dish and give the comments make me even more hungry while watching the show :) Some participants even take the negative comments sportively. This is something that I liked the most. The judges themselves sometimes help some individual by giving ideas when they feel that someone is not performing the task well.
The commercial breaks are not too long and lasts for 2 minutes.

Friends please don't miss these MasterChef Australia episodes. They are specially a must for the food bloggers and the the budding MasterChef's. You can also visit this site to get more details about the show.
