Share The Load At Home And Live Happily

Nita never knew that her life will change completely after her marriage. She was just an engineering graduate and immediately she was married. She always wanted to do a job, but her husband told her that she need not work and be a house-wife. But despite her husband telling her not to work, she started searching and applying for jobs. Since she had less percentage, she had great difficulty in searching a job in IT. But even before she got a job, she realized that she was pregnant. All her dreams were shattered and since she had some complications during pregnancy, she decided that she will not search a job and be a house-wife as per her husband’s wish.

Soon the kid was born and unfortunately her mother-in-law was diagnosed with critical illness. Her husband’s earnings were not enough for the treatment of his Mom and also to take care of the house-hold. Day by day the expenses increased. So after discussion with her husband, Nita again decided that she will do a full time job. She applied for a job in BPO where her husband was working and was called for the interview.

Nita was unable to concentrate on her interview preparations as she was a Mom of a 8 month old toddler. Plus she was taking care of everything at home alone. On the day of interview, Nita was completely exhausted due to the house-hold work and the kid. She could not clear the interview and due to the rejection, she went into depression. She felt that she was a burden to her husband as he had to take care of his parents, herself and the kid and even decided to end her life.

One fine day they went for counselling and arrived at the conclusion that the husband should help Nita. Her husband loved her a lot, but he was too busy with his job. He decided to change for Nita’s sake. He agreed to share the load. They did not have any help at home. The couple and the kid were staying alone and the family was residing in the remote village in Karnataka.

She admitted her kid to a day-care near her home. She started searching for a job with new hopes and this time she was successful. Her husband helped her a lot. He helped her with the job search and even took mock interviews to prepare her for the interviews. While Nita cooked food in the kitchen, her husband bathed the kid and even used to feed food to the kid. Nita fully concentrated on the kitchen and her hubby took care of the kid. She used to wash the laundry in the washing machine, but her husband used to help her to dry the clothes.

Nita would start cooking breakfast and lunch at 6.00 Am and her hubby would wake the kid, brush and bath her. He would then feed the kid and after having their own breakfast they would drop the kid to day-care and go to office. After returning home, both used to do the house-hold work together.
On weekends, Nita’s hubby would always go and do the weekly grocery shopping while Nita would take care of the kid at home. When the kid was sick, they would take turns to stay at home to take care of the kid.  Soon Nita was promoted at her job and due to her job they were able to spend decently on the house-hold as well take care of the ill mother-in-law. Sometimes when Nita had late night meetings, her husband would cook some basic meal like dal and rice and take care of the kid. At times when husband was busy, Nita would go and do the weekly grocery shopping.  They started sharing the responsibilities equally.

The couple got used to living their life like this and sharing the house hold chores together. They would now never hide from others that they are sharing the house-hold chores together. They even motivated many other working couples to share the load within the house-hold.

This is a common scene in almost every house-hold where the couples are both working. If both husband and wife does not share the load then it is difficult to live a living in the big cities. So share the load and live life happily. You never know what may come up in life. So it is important to share the load financially and in all the ways possible. Share the load and be happy.
