This recipe was discovered accidentally in my kitchen. I used
to always make these
raw plantain rava fry. One day my house help chopped the raw banana into small pieces instead of slicing them. I did not know what to do then. So I
called my mom and asked what to do. She told me to make Kelyachi Bhaji
and to follow the exact same recipe as that of potato subzi.
Yea, the stir fry was a big hit in my kitchen and I love making it again and again because it gets cooked really very soon. Just ensure that you do not overcook it. If in case you tend to overcook, then mask it and make
raw banana cutlets and enjoy a delicious snack :)
Ingredients: Prep. Time: 20 Mins, Serves: 4
1 medium sized raw banana/plantain
½ cup finely chopped onion
2 tbsp. grated coconut
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chili powder
Procedure:
Wash the raw banana. Apply little oil to your hands and peel
the banana using a peeler and then chop it into small pieces.
In a kadai/wok, add 2 tbsp. oil and fry onion till it turns
pinkish.
After the onion turns pinkish, add chopped raw banana and
stir well.
Now add ½ cup water, close the lid of the kadai and simmer
on low heat. Once the raw banana gets cooked, add grated coconut, turmeric
powder and red chili powder and mix well.
Add salt to taste and stir everything well.
Note: Application of oil to hands ensure that your hands don’t
get dark while peeling the raw banana.
To check if the raw banana is cooked, lightly press the
cooked raw banana piece with the spatula. If it gets pressed easily, then the
raw banana is cooked.
