Mr. Beans Home Cafe - The Coffee Lounge - A Restaurant Review

On a quiet summer evening, me and my hubby decided to go out to Kormangala for shopping. It is a bit too far from the place that I reside in. But I really wanted to go to that place for shopping. After shopping I felt hungry and thirsty. I had heard about Mr. Bean's Coffee Lounge from my friends. So just near the Kormangala BDA Complex, I spotted this place and asked my hubby whether we can try some drinks and snacks at this place. I told him that I have heard that this place is unique because it is has a very homely atmosphere.

So we parked our bike and got into the Coffee Lounge. As soon as we entered, I glanced around the place. It was indeed a very homely atmosphere as heard from my friends. I loved the decor, especially the quotes displayed on the walls. Initially I sat outside on the couch, but later I realised that the place is quite big. So when I went inside, I found a nice place and occupied a table meant for 3 as my little one was also with us.

The staff placed the menu on our table. Quickly I went through it and I should say that they have a lot of things to eat as the menu is extensive. Mr. Beans has an extensive Coffee menu ranging from Signature hot and cold beverages. Having excelled in coffee preparations from a basic espresso to dessert coffee beverages such as Café Anaconda and Café Veronica, Mr Beans has ventured into teas now. Keeping in mind a non tea and coffee beverage menu , milkshakes , fizz drinks, smoothies and lemonades have also been introduced.

Since we were thirsty on that summer evening, we first ordered some coolers. My little one loves pink, I ordered Strawberry fizz for her. It was a sparkling strawberry drink but with a dash of mint. My hubby loves mangoes and ordered Tropical Mango Fruit Smoothie which was a collection of tangy orange, mango and bananas. I went for spicy lemonade - lemonade with a twist. Each of these were extremely good. Out of the drinks that we ordered, strawberry fizz became my favorite too.

Now was the time for some starters. The food menu has been designed keeping in mind an all day dining café. French crepes with a variety of fillings, thin crust pizzas and waffles are the signature dishes at Mr. Beans. Mr. Beans offers something for every one. I ordered garlic bread and  Bruschetta. By the time the starters arrived, I decided to go around and have a look at the place. There are various places where you can sit and have your food. You can sit in the garden or on the couch at the entrance. There is a nice room where a group of friends or a family can sit and enjoy their meal. There are some places meant for dating couples.

There is a big dining  table in the center where a group of friends can play games like scrabble or pictionary (game).

Ok, then the starters were served. The garlic bread was my hubby's favorite. Baked to perfection and nicely flavoured with garlic.

The Bruschetta was tangy and crispy. It is an Italian all time starter of tomato, onion and basil topped on a crisp bread.

We had the starters and my little one started loving the place. She started going around. I really did not have to monitor her there. Soon she and my hubby went to play foosball while I ordered the main course.
I ordered Spaghetti Pasta with chicken which was creamy, cheesy and buttery. This was heavenly. It was customized as per my taste and desire.

Next we tried the Creamy Chicken Crepe and Classic White Chicken sandwich. The chicken crepe was served hot and was good, though my hubby did not like it that much. The Chicken sandwich was really good.  It is an Italian sandwich with a twist. My little one had some bites of this sandwich and soon said "Mom you should put this type of sandwich in my tiffin box".

This place looked like a typical French house. The open kitchen and the dessert counter was something I liked. The food was too good but I wanted to try the desserts. I told the staff to pack the best dessert from this place for one of my special and dear friend. He packed the walnut brownies and on the way home I handed these to my friend. My friend just loved them.

A homely and cosy place

I would surely recommend this place to my readers. This is a perfect place for small Birthday parties or get-togethers or simply to hang out with friends. I even saw some students there doing joint studies and another group was celebrating a Birthday party. Some people were busy playing games and there were some who were sitting alone talking on their mobile phones while sipping a cup of coffee.  There were couples who were busy in their world and a group of techies who were busy debugging their code. So I came to a conclusion that this place is meant for the young crowd of Bangalore.

In Paris too they have the same type of concept. People have very small houses in Paris and decide to meet their friends at the Coffee shops or at small cafes. Same concept was seen here. In Bangalore the young crowd mostly lives in hostels or Paying guests and this type of Coffee Lounge is a real blessing from them.

Foosball
The service of the staff was a bit slow as the place was crowded on the busy Sunday evening. But the homely ambiance, the good quality food and great drinks makes me feel like visiting this place often. The pleasant aroma of various coffee flavors inside the outlet mingled in the cool and cozy environs of the café, revives each and every guest. So the next time I visit Kormangala I am surely going back to Mr.Bean's.
